A 7:00 a.m. check-in at Villa Marina, a 50-minute catamaran crossing to Cayo Icacos, two snorkel stops and lunch served while the boat sits off the beach.
Updated 13 October 2026
This is a 5.5-hour catamaran day out of Villa Marina in Fajardo, from $130, rated ★ 4.8 across 103 reviews. Check-in is 7:00 a.m., the 50 ft Traveler catamaran leaves at 8:00 a.m. and reaches Cayo Icacos about 50 minutes later. Up to 48 passengers board, and you get in the water twice: first in the shallows around the cay, then at the coral reef after lunch, where the water slide comes off the back of the boat.
Lunch is a deli-style buffet with bean salad, a fruit platter and cookies, served during the beach break. The bar on board pours pina coladas, rum cola, rum punch, water and soft drinks. Beer is not included and gratuities are extra. Snorkel gear and an in-person guide come with the trip.
Icacos itself is uninhabited and has nothing on it: no restrooms, no drinking water, no food service, no trash collection, no permanent shade and no lifeguards, so swimming and snorkelling are at your own risk. Everything you eat and drink comes off the catamaran, and anything you carry ashore goes back on board with you. There is no public ferry to the cays; the only way across is by boat, and the cay sits about 1.5 miles northeast of Fajardo inside the La Cordillera nature reserve.
Three restrictions matter before you pay. Minors must be 4 years or older, and the operator will not board expectant mothers or anyone with back or neck problems for safety reasons. On the reef, do not touch coral, do not stand on it and keep your fins clear of the bottom: DRNA found about a third of snorkellers here doing at least one damaging thing, with endangered staghorn coral growing on the shallow tour reef.
Check-in 7:00 a.m. at Villa Marina Fajardo, 8:00 a.m. departure on a 50 ft Traveler catamaran, two snorkel stops, deli-style buffet, pina coladas and rum punch, snorkel gear and an in-person guide. Full refund if you cancel at least 24 hours before departure.

The 7:00 a.m. check-in on this trip buys the longest time on the water of the Icacos catamarans at 5.5 hours, and early starts land you on the cay well before the 2:00 p.m. crowd peak. The Deserted Island picnic cruise is the easier default for first-timers who want a later 8:30 a.m. check-in and an on-board bathroom; the Innovation waterslide tour and the all-inclusive beach and snorkel boat run 5 hours each. Tobias Icacos is the shortest at 4 hours and the cheapest of the five.
